@The Cowshed is a group of inviting and comfortable Shepherd Huts, all handcrafted and traditionally built, situated in the rural Wiltshire village of Kilmington. Kilmington borders the National Trust Estate of Stourhead House & Gardens and is in the beautiful Cranbourne Chase and West Wiltshire Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. @The Cowshed is the perfect place to explore the area on foot, on bike or by car – you will not be disappointed!
STAY WITH US
Our Shepherd Huts have comfortable beds with bedding supplied and an area to relax in, play cards or sit and plan your cycle route. The shared kitchen area has an oven, hob and fridge with all the kitchen equipment you could want or need…if not – just ask! Washing up facilities are provided too with basic provisions to keep you going as we understand the importance of refuelling, so there will be sweet treats on arrival and a breakfast pack in the fridge.

To refresh and revive the hot showers are supplied with Body Wash and have enough hooks for all your belongings and towels!

Cycle @The Cowshed – We are on the Wiltshire Cycleway and many paths can be accessed from the Huts. Whether you feel a few miles on the bike is the order of the day or just a gentle cycle around the village, we provide print offs of various routes to suit all abilities. In addition we can recommend good local pubs or cafes to stop off at and recharge. We have dry cycle storage and are more than happy to dry things overnight by the Aga should the rain catch you out. There is also drying space in your Shepherds Hut. See Wiltshire Cycleways for further information.
Walk @The Cowshed – Get the boots on and get outside to either stomp around the local area or plan an invigorating hike. The surrounding area consists of stunning woodland and picturesque villages that create a rural countryside that needs to be explored on foot!
Relax @The Cowshed – Boil the kettle, read without disruption, draw or paint. These Huts will provide your tranquil hideaway. There is no mobile signal or WiFi in the Huts providing no interruptions. A break away from your phone is very good for your soul – try it!
@The Cowshed is based next to the home of Richard & Charlotte. As your warm and welcoming hosts we are available for any questions and happy to make suggestions for activities to ensure you enjoy your stay, so please any special requests – just ask! We can even warm your walking boots on the Aga!
